TechBiz Connection Forum Debates Whether Disruptive Technologies Truly Disrupt or Are Constructive

IRVINE, Calif. - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- TechBiz Connection will host a forum on disruptive technologies featuring a panel of executives from companies poised to change the way business is done in their respective markets on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the law offices of Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear in Irvine.

According to Jack Bicer, TechBiz Connection president, the interactive event will address the question of whether a "technology" can really disrupt a business model and discuss the theory that change in business, by its very nature, is always disruptive. In fact, he notes, we may want to encourage change in order to increase the chances of a finding a constructive and better way to conduct business.

The panelists represent companies that can answer can these questions as each of their technologies and business models will "change" the way business is done in their markets.

The panel moderator is Barry Lieberman of TruVitals, a company that has improved the quality of health care worldwide by commercializing the first zero contact continuous vital signs monitoring products. TruVitals zero contact vital signs monitoring can measure key health indicators with no contact to the patient so it is now possible to continuously monitor the vital signs of animals after surgery even the vitals of lions, tigers, and dolphins. Mr. Lieberman has been focused on go to market and product/service commercialization for over 30 years. As a part-time executive for the past six years he has disrupted the processes, people and infrastructure of organizations, like Q-See and IOGEAR to enable them to move to the next level. He built and ran Advantage Plus Marketing Group, a national marketing services firm, which implemented go market/commercialization/demand generation programs for top tier technology organizations. Mr. Lieberman also is an active angel investor and advisor to early-stage companies and a mentor and executive in residence at Chapman University and Cal State Fullerton.

1.      Lori A. Torres, Parcel Pending - After 25+ years, Ms. Torres left corporate America to start Parcel Pending, a solution for managing packages at apartment communities and university housing.  This solution combines electronic lockers with software to notify residents when a package arrives and allows for 24/7 pick-up. Previously, she was with Irvine Company Apartment Communities for 13 years where, as senior vice president, property management, Ms. Torres was responsible for and oversaw all day-to-day operations for the company's entire apartment portfolio. Her team consisted of 1,200 property management associates operating over 44,000 apartment homes. Prior to Irvine Apartment Communities, she worked for BRE Properties, Inc., for over four years as senior regional manager.

2.      Darius Fong, weeSPIN -- Darius Fong is the founder and CEO of weeSPIN and a Grammy award winning audio engineer and music producer. weeSPIN is a collaborative social network that connects music around one’s daily habits. He is the author of Debtcibel and founded Audio Must Preach, an independent consultation company that helps churches focus on ministry and stewardship by removing audio related obstacles. Mr. Fong graduated from Indiana University of Bloomington with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications.

3.      Joseph G. McCarthy, iPourIt -- iPourIt is a unique patented technology that allows customers to pour their own beer.  No other system on the market allows a business to charge 100% of every ounce in a keg thus increasing revenue and driving profitability through lower operating costs. Mr. McCarthy has been working for the iPourIt for the past two years. Prior to that, he was a partner of Bellwether Financial Group, an investment and management company. Mr. McCarthy also served as general counsel and vice president, corporate development for Ambassadors International, a publicly traded company and was responsible to both the board and its business division presidents for mergers and acquisitions.
