Information Security Forum to Examine the Evolving Regulatory Landscape in Latest Webcast

Presentation Will Review Current Regulatory Trends and Discuss How Organizations Can Effectively Deal With the Increasing Overhead in Regulatory Management
By: Information Security Forum

NEW YORK - Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- According to the Information Security Forum (http://www.securityforum.org/) (ISF), a global, independent information security body considered the world's leading authority on cyber security and information risk management, most governments have created or are in the process of creating regulations that impose conditions on the protection and use of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), with penalties for organizations who fail to adequately protect it. As a result, organizations need to treat privacy as both a compliance and business risk issue, in order to reduce regulatory sanctions and commercial impacts such as reputational damage and consequential loss of customers due to privacy breaches.

Furthermore, there are increasing plans for regulation around the collection, storage and use of information along with severe penalties for loss of data and breach notification, particularly across the European Union (EU). Different countries’ regulations impose different requirements on whether PII can be transferred across borders. Some have no additional requirements; others have detailed requirements. In order to determine what cross-border transfers that will occur with a particular cloud-based system, an organization needs to work with their cloud provider to determine where the information will be stored and processed.

During this webcast, Steve Durbin (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevedurbin), Managing Director of the ISF, and Andy Roth (https://www.linkedin.com/pub/andy-roth/16/309/92b), Co-Chair of Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Group at Dentons, LLP, will review current regulatory trends and look at how organizations can effectively deal with the increasing overhead in regulatory management above and beyond the security function. Please register via this link (https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/5418/96443) for the free webcast which takes place on Tuesday, September 16 at 9 a.m. (ET). A recording will be available following the conclusion of the event.
