Costco to Host Book Signing for Old Idaho Penitentiary Authors

BOISE, Idaho - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Old Idaho Penitentiary, by Amber Beierle, Ashley Phillips, and Hanako Wakatsuki, boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of Idaho’s old historic district.

Between 1872 and 1973, the Idaho State Penitentiary housed over 13,000 inmates. Some of Idaho’s most corrupt and cunning criminals resided behind these Boise sandstone walls. Constructed in large part by inmate labor, the “Old Idaho Penitentiary” stands as a reminder of Idaho’s Wild West past. Horse thieves, moonshiners, bank robbers, and assassins alike all called this penitentiary home. Owned and operated by the Idaho State Historical Society, the Old Idaho Penitentiary is one of only four territorial prisons open to the public in the United States.

All author proceeds will be donated to the Friends of the Historical Museum & Old Idaho Penitentiary.

The book features biographical information on each one of the ten men executed at the Old Idaho Penitentiary.

The Old Idaho Penitentiary is one of only four territorial prisons in the United States open to the public.

All of the photos featured in the book are available for purchase at the Idaho State Archives and/or Boise State University.

The book features over 100 stories, biographies, and never-before published information on inmates, guards, wardens, and more.
