Ukuvuma joins MySidekick to help roll out innovative new consumer app

PRETORIA, South Africa - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Ukuvuma Solutions, the leading ICT consultancy and systems development specialist, has applied its expertise to co-develop the MySidekick mobile app. The solution offers South African consumers a new level of information accessibility and availability to place them directly in the path of money-saving specials, deals and events.

The offering is the result of collaboration between expert developers represented through MySidekick, a young company founded by entrepreneurs Leonard Brewer, Mark Pratt, Charles Guise-Brown, Ian Banneman and Corinne Lategan.

The MySidekick mobile app was developed using Appcelerator Mobile’s Titanium Studio, a cross-platform development framework to create native mobile applications for multiple mobile operating systems, including iOS and Android.

“The cloud back-end to the mobile app was developed on top of the Appcelerator Cloud using Appcelerator Cloud Services (ACS), which makes use of Node.js and MongoDB technology,” explains John Jardin, CTO of Ukuvuma Solutions and Lead Developer of MySidekick.

The technology facilitates the functionality of the offering and benefits consumers by serving as a virtual shopping assistant, providing information on specials and promotions, as well as on sales, competitions, events and coupons. Instant access to this information saves the shopper time and money.

MySidekick mobile app has an easy-to-follow user interface, a comprehensive database of retailers, critical information such as map directions, contact information for emergency and general services, as well as the best rated specials at any given time.

The MySidekick team headed up by the MySidekick Company concentrated on user experience and applied the most responsive technology to provide an app that simplifies the user’s shopping style.

Special features include adding retailers, malls and specials to a user’s favourites list, viewing the Top 10 Specials closest to one’s location, and sharing specials, competitions and more on Facebook and Twitter.

The app is available free for download to all iPhone and iPad users, and plans are underway for an Android version which will be available for download in the coming months.
