Latino’s in the 1900’s Depicted in Soderbergh’s “The Knick”

Sept. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- New York, September 5, 14, 2014 – If you are following the Highly acclaimed and controversial Show on Cinemax you already are aware that there are many Immigrant characters in the graphic and gory Knick. The Show represents New York in the 1900’s and the Character of Cuban Immigrant Ernesto Mandietta will be shown next week.   Among the many Irish, British, German and Polish or generally European Characters this 5^th Episode of the Knick will feature a Latino Character.  Playing the role is Edwin Lugo.  Edwin feels honored to have played the role of Ernesto Mendietta. “It was a pleasure working with Academy Award winning Director Stephen Soderbergh”  The show which prides itself on authenticity and accuracy cast Edwin Lugo who is Afro Caribbean just as the writer Steven Katz had created.  “I was honored to play a Cuban Immigrant and felt an obligation to get the Dialect right and act truthfully as a the show is a historic document of New York and Medicine in the 1900’s” Edwin Lugo explains.  “It is Important for Latinos to be documented in this medium and seen in history as we were.  Latinos were here in New York in the 1900’s too and The Knick will depict it this Friday.” Explains Lugo.  Andre Holland who plays the Brilliant African American Doctor Algernon Edwards in the Knick plays opposite Edwin Lugo and his Character fights physically and metaphorically for his place in the Hospital and equality.  “It was a pleasure to work with Andre.  He brings an amazing genuine character to life and I felt Ernesto was in good hands.  Edwin Lugo is a New York Based Actor and Singer Who has Appeared on Broadway in Paul Simon’s “The Capeman” and is an established musical Artist.   http://lugomusic.tk  http://add52.com/lugo

The Blood and guts that are extremely shocking and the special fx make up both play an integral part in depicting the real life drama but the best authenticity comes from the masterful production team which includes Star Clive Owen who produces and Plays the lead Dr. John W.
