Attention is Worth Money, So Think Before you Pay It

Changing Your Behavior is what Changes our Culture, Your Ethical Choices determine our cultural make up

Sept. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- “Our divisions make us strangers when our common faith should bring us together,” says Terrence A. Lovett, CEO of the Christian Library on Demand (CLD).  The Christian Library on Demand serves all types of Christians from every part of the faith.  “All Orthodox Christians are welcomed at the Christian Library on Demand and we serve anyone who has a positive message, product or service which contributes to the health and welfare of families,” says Lovett.  The Christian Library on Demand is a TV service for Christian and family friendly audiences who want content which reflects their values.  The Christian Library on Demand delivers its shows and movies through streaming video apps, such as the Christian Library on Demand mobile app and the EnLive Smart TV App.

“Hollywood only considers entertainment from a profit loss standpoint and this I know all too well,” says Darcey Hutchinson, CFO of the Christian Library on Demand, “however, we must consider the fact that the government has to restrain Hollywood from showing content that could be harmful, abusive, and unethical.”  Pornography is content which pays the cable companies well.  Pornography is like visual drugs; it can draw you in and make you addicted to it.  “Communications is one of the most important freedoms that we have and it should be handled with ethics, but today ethics are far from consideration when it comes to what the networks and cable will air,” says Lovett.

Yet with all of the unethical communications which take place on television and cable, Christians watch as much as the general public.  Although various conservative groups have complained and there has been a movement to abstain from television watching altogether, Hollywood, the networks and the cable industry continue to air content which represents the worst in communications ethics.  “From so-called news networks on cable which reflect only one perspective to the anchor commentary filled local news, we are surrounded by content which consistently lies to us and misrepresents reality itself,” says Lovett.  How then can you maintain your faith in this environment?

“Christians have the power to create their own networks and their own shows, we do not need the world the entertain us,” says Gerald Wiggins, Christian Library on Demand Senior Vice President of Distribution and International Development.  “Christians have produced their own music for generations, we have produced our own TV networks, so why can’t we produce our own entertainment?” says Wiggins.  There are hundreds of Christian film and TV producers out there producing content and standing in faith that the Christian community will find value in it.  However Christians have only started to learn the value of supporting Christian entertainment with recent films like “Heaven is for Real” and the efforts of Hollywood Christians such as Roma Downey and Mark Burnett.  “However these recent efforts don’t go far enough, we should master entertainment and do it with Christian ethics and values, not try to influence Hollywood, the networks and cable to throw us a bone,” says Lovett, “because even after they do throw ascent to us and offer a show or two, they will return to doing what makes them most comfortable, promoting and displaying darkness, sinfulness and confusion.”

Hollywood has shown a pattern of doing a few things Christian just to pacify the alarmist cultural elite and the Evangelical civil society.  However, after a time, even more risky content emerges such as reality shows which encourage sinful behavior in order to win the prize.  “There is no reforming the world system, we must support the business and industry we need to serve our families and abstain from those who no longer want to serve us.  Christians can build several entertainment networks with content which reflects our values,” says CLD CEO Terrence A. Lovett.

If you are Christian and you are enlightened to the need for content inspired by Christian ethics and values, please support the Christian Library on Demand.
