Van Ommen maintains product information 3-4 times faster with Perfion PIM

ATLANTA - Sept. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Before implementing the Perfion Product Information Management solution, the Dutch wholesaler Van Ommen was using an in-house developed module for catalog information together with their Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system. This solution could no longer meet the company’s demands.

The company needed more flexibility to add all the new languages for new countries for which they wanted to build websites. The old system had a limitation of 5 languages. Another challenge was that Van Ommen was not able to save product images, video or other marketing material directly in the Dynamics AX like they now can in the Perfion PIM system.

The PIM solution for Multi-Channel Marketing

A 100% standard PIM solution was what Van Ommen needed to replace their old solution. Perfion was implemented with only 4 days of consultancy support and is now allowing Van Ommen to do everything themselves with no programming required.

Perfion is primarily used for creating output for Van Ommen’s new website and for parts of their enourmous product catalog. Both website and catalog contain all the 25.000 products that the company is always keeping in stock.

Webshop based on Sana Commerce and Perfion PIM

Van Ommen’s new website is based on the Sana Commerce e-Commerce solution that is fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics AX, just like Perfion.

The combination of Perfion and Sana Commerce has resulted in a strong and extremely user-friendly “plug & play” standard solution, which has afterwards been tailored for Van Ommen.

The perfect integration between Perfion and Sana Commerce, allows Van Ommen to update information and publish it to the online catalog at once.

Using the Perfion PIM system, Van Ommen is managing product information 3-4 times faster than before.

Perfion PIM handles all catalog data

In connection with the putting into operation of Perfion, Van Ommen’s catalog is being redesigned into a more European format: Only few versions, each containing several language variations, also managed by Perfion PIM. This improvement will save Van Ommen a lot of printing costs.

A tool selector will be developed next

Another thing that the company wants to create is a special tool selector, also based on Perfion. This is a smart piece of software that guides the customer through all necessary information: Material, kind of handling (drilling, tapping), etc. - in order to find exactly the tool that he needs for his purpose.
