4th Annual Race Against Prostate Cancer Planned for September 27

LAS VEGAS - Sept. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Two nonprofit groups are teaming up in Southern Nevada to raise awareness for prostate cancer and funds for local cancer patients during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. 21^st Century C.A.R.E., the foundation dedicated to providing financial aid to cancer patients in need, and the Las Vegas Chapter of Us TOO Prostate Cancer Support Group, will be the main beneficiaries of the fourth annual “This One’s for the Boys!” 5K walk/run.

The event will be on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the University of Las Vegas Track & Field Stadium. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the cost is $25 to register online or $30 the day of the event. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. The first 200 participants will receive a free event t-shirt.

Prostate cancer is the nation’s second leading cause of cancer deaths in American men; however, it is treatable when caught early. Runners, walkers and volunteers will gather to raise awareness for the importance of prostate cancer screenings and to provide support for those affected by the disease.

21^st Century C.A.R.E. partners with the Las Vegas Chapter of Us TOO Prostate Cancer Support Group to reach out to the community and raise funds to provide prostate cancer screenings, financial assistance, and educational programs to the Southern Nevada Community throughout the year. Their combined goal is to prevent prostate cancer deaths through awareness, early detection, clinical research and innovative treatment.

The 2014 Silver Sponsors include Cleveland Clinic and Bayer Pharmaceuticals and the Bronze Sponsor is Jerry’s Nugget. The official car sponsor is Gaudin Porsche. Other sponsors include 21^st Century Oncology of Las Vegas, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Strive Medical, Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Tim Soder Physical Therapy and Prostate Cancer Research Institute. The event will also feature a special appearance by Lisa Song Sutton, 2014 Miss Nevada United States, and the University of Nevada Las Vegas Cheerleaders.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Myron Partridge Track & Field Stadium is located on-campus at the intersection of Swenson Street and East Harmon Avenue.
