Baby-friendly boltholes for early-autumn holidays with Classic Cottages

PRLog - Sep. 4, 2014 - Anyone with babies or small children is in a privileged position when it comes to early-autumn holidays. Whilst families with older children tackle the back-to-school grind, pre-school families can enjoy affordability, flexibility and the freedom of having the south-west’s countryside and coastline all to themselves.

Offering 800 coastal and country cottages in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall Classic Cottages’ website includes a baby-friendly feature that makes finding your perfect West Country getaway a breeze. With a single click, you can search quickly for holiday boltholes with cots, highchairs, stair-gates, baby baths, bath mats, changing mats and socket covers as standard.  It’s perfect for parents with babies and saves schlepping all that bulky baby paraphernalia both into the car and out again…the only difficult part will be deciding which perfectly-positioned home-from-home to pick. Some sleep four or six, making them perfect for two sets of friends with little ones or perhaps a three-generation holiday.

Classic Cottages can also offer special, value-added extras (additionalcharges may apply) that ensure relaxation levels peak while on holiday – from a chef to cook delicious meals to the delivery of locally-sourced food. Or, for real bliss, how about yoga lessons in the fresh air of your own garden?

Classic Cottages’ baby and toddler-friendly boltholes, with availability for early-autumn breaks (September and/or October) include...

DORSET

The Old School Gables (sleeps four plus cot) is a beautifully-restored old school in the village of Drimpton. Younger members of the family won’t be able to get enough of its original playground and play equipment, whilst you will probably love its proximity to the gardens of the local village pub – just a short stroll away for a relaxing evening drink before bath time and bed. A week’s stay in October (available from 26 September) is from £366 total.

Sunnyholme (sleeps six – perfect for including the grandparents - plus two cots) is set in the village of Studland, right by some of the region’s most breathtaking beaches. This detached home has a real family feel to it and includes a safely-enclosed rear garden from where you need only wander, bucket and spade in hand, half a mile to the pretty beach. A week’s stay in October is from £660 total.

Briar Cottage (sleeps six plus cot) nestles in a peaceful village close to the market town of Bridport, with its excellent eateries.  Order hampers of local produce to await your arrival and enjoy a range of popular sights within easy reach, including the seaside harbour towns of West Bay and Lyme Regis as well as Chesil Beach. A week’s stay in October is from £453 total.

SOMERSET

The Orchard (sleeps six plus cot), located in truly idyllic countryside, is a spacious detached house overlooking pretty Porlock village, with far-reaching sea views. With room for granny and grandpa too, it caters fabulously for babies and toddlers, with its own nursery room and gorgeous toys including a traditional rocking horse that will doubtless be much enjoyed and photographed, little one aboard, for the family album. A week’s stay in October is from £660 total.

DEVON

Little Loughrigg(sleeps two plus cot) is a newly-converted, light and airy annexe (all on one level) with its own garden. Close to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall‘s famous River Cottage Canteen – perfect for lunch-time forays - as well as the highly-desirable small town of Lyme Regis in Dorset, it’s a very private, baby-friendly retreat, where you can cosy up and make the most of any hours slept (yours or your baby’s). A week’s stay in October is from £306 total.

CORNWALL

Seahorses (sleeps four plus cot) is a modern coastal retreat on the rugged north coast. The ground-floor apartment offers easy access to the sandy shores of Mawgan Porth – only 250 yards away and on the same level, with no steep hills to climb with a pushchair or toddler in tow. A week’s stay in October (available from 26 September) is from £480 total.

Sunset Barn (sleeps four plus cot) is set on Cardinham Farm in the west Cornwall village of Praze-an-Beeble. Toddlers will love the variety of animals, and all are welcome to explore the fields and help at feeding times. What’s more, beauty treatments and therapeutic massages can be arranged for frazzled parents. A week’s stay in October (available from 26 September) is from £411 total.

Winnie’s Cottage (sleeps four plus cot) is the perfect place for bedtime Pooh Bear stories.  It’s set on the north Cornish coast, near to St Agnes, overlooking pastures where Dopey the friendly goat grazes. This detached modern cottage is ideal for young families thanks to its practical tiled floor, play area and purpose-built baby bath and shower in the double bedroom’sen suitebathroom.A week’s stay in October is from £432 total.

Colesloggett Farmhouse (sleeps six), near Fowey, has its own train station, no less, so hop on the Bodmin & Wenford Steam Railway and travel back in time! Reminiscent perhaps of evocative tales such as The Railway Children or Tarka the Otter, this 18th century stone house, surrounded by woods and farmland in the Glynn Valley, enjoys classic farmhouse features such as a Rayburn, a Victorian roll-top bath and, perfect for youngsters, swings in the gardens. A week’s stay (available from 6 September) throughout September and October is from £507 total.
