Outside Las Vegas Foundation Expands its Adopt-a-Trail Program to Unincorporated Clark County

Businesses and community members that commit to adopting urban trails before October 15 will be honored at Get Outdoors Nevada Day on October 25

LAS VEGAS - Sept. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- The Outside Las Vegas Foundation (http://www.outsidelasvegas.org/) (OLVF) is expanding the footprint of its Adopt-a-Trail Program beyond the City of Las Vegas to include unincorporated Clark County. There are 120 miles of urban trails available to be adopted for a $500 donation per mile, which can be renewed annually. Businesses and individuals who donate $3,000 or more to adopt a segment by Oct. 15, 2014 will be honored as Trailblazers at Get Outdoors Nevada Day (http://www.getoutdoorsnevada.org/day/) on October 25. Those who donate from $500 to $3,000 to support the program will be recognized as Pioneer sponsors.

The Adopt-a-Trail program was established in 2011 to encourage local residents to engage with the City of Las Vegas’ urban trails. Supporting the City of Las Vegas’s significant investment in urban trails, sponsorship funds are used to purchase supplies and equipment for volunteer cleanup events, community walks and other program planning.

Trail adopters are recognized with their organization’s name or logo on signs installed at all access points along the trail. Adopters may select which trail to adopt based on availability and their geographic preference. OLVF can also arrange cleanups specific to adopters so that groups can volunteer on their adopted trail along with other neighbors or residents from the community. Businesses and individuals who adopt trails as Trailblazer sponsors will join a notable list of other Trailblazers such as the City of Las Vegas, NV Energy, Wells Fargo, Howard Hughes Corporation, Starbucks and Weight Watchers.

“The City of Las Vegas has done a tremendous job of planning and constructing a network of urban trails and parks for its residents, but often funding was limited to the initial construction. Our program creates opportunities for the city, the county, and residents to join together to as a community to care for these special outdoor places,” said Rae Lathrop, OLVF’s associate director. “These urban trails are not only a great way to explore nature, but they also provide commuting and fitness options for residents and visitors. We hope that our business community will join together with local residents to support the expanded Adopt-a-Trail program.”
