Christian Haar of Bukkehave Interview

Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Christian Haar, Chairman and majority owner of Bukkehave, recently did an interview with the International Fleet Report, where he discusses his background and the history of BUkkehave, a 90 year old company which Mr. Haar transformed to become the leader in providing vehicle fleet solutions in emerging markets.

When asked how Bukkehave has changed over the years, Mr. Haar said, "When I started at Bukkehave we were mostly supplying normal passenger cars around the world. The company exported its first car in 1925. It goes back a long way. After the 2^nd world war when the UN was established we started to supply mostly 4×4 vehicles and SUVs to Africa for projects there. The in the ‘80s and ‘90s we got more and more into the truck business and really in the past 8 years it has evolved into a business where we supply specialized vehicles for projects in developing countries, mostly to the oil and mining industry but also to the UN and all our projects. We supply all the parts, we do all logistics and we do the service also which is an important part.


As far as what set's Bukkehave apart, "Our key advantage is that we have been in this business all our lives. We know the business, we know the places, we know how to setup the logistics, we know how to supply the parts, we know how to do the service and in the past year we have developed different financial models to do leasing and renting. It is so difficult for a new player to walk in without that experience. You have to get it right. Mr. Bukkehave, who started the company, always said that precision is our second name. And I think it is important that if you are a mining company, your trucks have to run, because if they don’t run, nothing is moving, everything stops. Our strength, of course, is that we can do it, but also that we have the long history and reputation. Sometimes you lose the order because the trucks you recommend are more expensive but we really can’t compromise on that. We have to use our knowledge and our experience to provide the best solution always."
