Unique Mouth Artist Slated for the Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show

CARLISLE, Pa. - Sept. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- The Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show touts family fun and unique opportunities for families, individuals and enthusiasts.  There are also many vendors and artists at Carlisle too, all of which are showcasing their products and talents.  It’s fair to say that no other artist is as uniquely talented as Bruce Dellinger, however; because Bruce is a quadriplegic and composes each work of art with a simple pencil and his mouth/teeth.

Self taught, Bruce was confined to a wheel chair in 1981 following a farming accident.  The accident rendered him a C5-C6 quadriplegic and though it took time, Bruce discovered a new passion; art!  Using a simple No. 2 pencil, Bruce found that he was able to draw and write by manipulating the implements with his teeth.  Eventually, Bruce found a way to create works of art that were well received and more importantly, enjoyable and therapeutic for him.

Bruce frequently creates naturalistic scenes and often times believes that the finished composition is a reflection of his mood and adaptability to the life that he has lived over the past 30+ years.  Not only has his talent provided a new lease on life for him, he’s managed to turn a hobby into a career.  He makes appearances at events like the Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show and is also the official artist of the Virginia Wheelin’ Sportsmen Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and has won several awards for his art.  In addition, he and his work have been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers and TV programs.

With the Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show running September 5-7 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, Bruce will be positioned within Building T and is available to talk shop with enthusiasts and share tips on how he’s not only overcome adversity, but succeeded in a very unique way; both personally and professionally.  He will also be drawing in real time over the course of the weekend so that he can keep up on his projects and also showcase how he does what he does.  Complete information on Bruce and his projects are available via the Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show web page at www.CarlisleSportsOutdoor.com.
