Known to many as "the Queen of Gospel House" and "the Queen of Inspirational Soul", Nesby's spirited vocal stylings have fueled dance-floor hijinks while propelling records to the top of the charts around the world. While her last legitimate chart-topper came in 2000 with "Loving Is Really My Game," Ann Nesby is once again in the ring, riding the wave of retro-house stompers. This time around, it's with the aide of another Terry, Terry Hunter - one of Chicago's legendary Chosen Few DJs, who has given the title track to Nesby's 7th solo album - "Living My Life"- a workout worthy of dance music royalty.
Preparations began to release the dance floor fire-starter as early as April. Yet, as the saying goes, "God works in mysterious ways" when Ann Nesby received a call to honor the passing of her old friend and dance music mentor, Frankie Knuckles, at his memorial service earlier this year.
An audience of dance music royalty gathered in New York City to honor Knuckles' passing and his contribution to music. It was while performing her heavy-hearted rendition of Frankie's remix of "The Pressure Pt. 1" when it became clear why Ann Nesby remains the Queen. The uplifting theme of "Living My Life" then became a potent reminder that tomorrow is not promised and to live your life without apology, as Frankie had done.
Now buzzing in mix-show and dance music circles, "Living My Life - Terry Hunter's Bang Sunday Remix" has quickly become a dance floor staple - and is being called the remix of the summer by many. An obvious winner in Chicago where Manny Esparza of Fusion Radio says "it's one of my most requested tracks," the track has been exploding with #1 requests from Brooklyn to Los Angeles with Stephen Cunningham of Next Music sharing "it's one of THE great House records of 2014" and Justin Teta of SiriusXM sharing that it's "killing the competition.”
Ann Nesby and Terry Hunter have proven to be an unstoppable combination - with Ann having recorded additional vocals for the 'Bang Sunday Remix," upping the ante on the song's already super charged energy.
It's been five years since Ms. Nesby's last album. On a recent television appearance the hostess, in between gushing about the artist's still pristine vocals and her ageless beauty, inquired "what have you been up to?" to which Ann winked and quipped, "living my life."
