Carly Fiorina brings conservative message to Downers Grove Township.

Business & political powerhouse to give keynote address at Reagan Day Dinner

The Downers Grove Township Republican Organization (DGTRO) will be presenting nationally renowned author, businesswoman and political figure Carly Fiorina as the keynote speaker at its second annual Reagan Day Dinner on Wednesday, October 15.

Named by Fortune as one of the most powerful women in business, Fiorina is perhaps best known for transforming Hewlett-Packard during her six years as CEO, doubling the corporation’s revenue while quadrupling its growth and cash flow. Her experience at HP formed the basis of her best-selling memoir, Tough Choices. “At HP,” she says, “I was a complete outsider, and had to struggle to change an entrenched culture that was not only unproductive, but was actively aligned against me. In the course of those battles, I came to understand that success isn’t about numbers or about what the group is doing, it’s about people—individuals who are willing to work hard and go against the grain if they have to.”

Taking on tough challenges has been a hallmark of Carly’s life. “I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge, “ says Fiorina. “Probably because I’m a great believer in human potential. Each of us has this tremendous reserve of strength and know-how and all it takes is learning how to unlock it.” In 2010 she ran for the U.S. Senate when she took on one of Washington’s most entrenched liberals, Barbara Boxer, from the deep blue state of California. That election cycle, Fiorina earned more votes than any Republican nationwide and raised over $25 million dollars in 12 months.  While on the campaign trail, Carly became known for her proud adherence to conservative philosophies and her mastery of the issues.

In addition to actively taking part in a number of community- and faith-based organizations and programs, Fiorina currently serves as the Chairman of the American Conservative Union Foundation, which annually hosts CPAC, America’s largest annual gathering of conservatives.

Fiorina’s visit to Downers Grove is a can’t-miss opportunity to see a true conservative luminary. DGTRO chairman Brian Krajewski says, “Professionally, personally and politically, Carly epitomizes DGTRO’s ideals and mission. The Reagan Day dinner is key in funding our organization’s efforts to get Republican candidates elected and to advance the conservative cause, and we’re thrilled to have her for this special occasion.” Downers Grove Township Trustee Lorraine Grimsby adds, “Events like this really help DGTRO in our multi-level efforts to preserve Downers Grove Township and DuPage County as a great place to work and raise a family. Community support is crucial to what we do, and we hope people will come out and join us for a good time and an inspiring address.”

In addition to Fiorina’s presentation, honored invitees to the Reagan Day Dinner include: Gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner, U.S. Senator Mark Kirk, U.S. Senate candidate Jim Oberweis, Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, Treasurer candidate Tom Cross, Attorney General candidate Paul Schimpf, Secretary of State candidate Mike Webster, Congressman Peter Roskam, and Congressional candidate Darlene Senger.

1620 75th Street, Downers Grove. Open to the public, tickets are $75, $100 after September 25, and can be purchased at http://dgtro.org/ReaganDinner.htm
