SOMERVILLE, Mass. - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- The Learning Circle Childcare, LLC in Somerville, Massachusetts proudly enjoys giving back to the community as well as people in need.  In addition to making quarterly donations every year, The Learning Circle donates food during the Thanksgiving season, toys during the winter holidays, as well as clothing and toys during the spring and summer season to people in need.  In addition, they have also raised funds to help families who lost their home due to fire.  Additionally, every year on Earth Day, the staff teaches children about the importance of environmental awareness.  The teachers encourage children to bring items from home to use for creating art projects from recycled materials.  Home/school projects are a valuable tool for communication and collaboration between families and staff, in maintaining the school’s community focus.  In addition to giving back to the community, The Learning Circle also gives 5 families an opportunity to join the school at a significantly lower rate to have children attend pro bono.
The Learning Circle in Somerville is also unique for being able to offer different options and choices, from circle to reading time, with three different stations set up.  This helps provide a sense of independence and importance for the children to develop from an early age.  As a result, The Learning Circle has received many positive reviews.  The Learning Circle also works with high school students who are interested in getting certified to work in child-care/child development. The students spend a few hours there each week.
The Learning Circle in Somerville provides a safe, loving, fun, healthy, multi-cultural, educational, and developmentally/individually appropriate environment with a friendly focus.  The school was founded by Julie Vellucci-Melo, the director of The Learning Circle.  Julie Vellucci-Melo has background knowledge in early childhood development and psychology which allows her to meet your children’s needs even more.  The teachers at The Learning Circle love to play and laugh with the children.  They also have a positive influence on the children and make the day filled with play and exploration.  The teacher at The Learning Circle Childcare, LLC has extensive experience in caring for children which makes them an excellent role model for early childhood educators.  The teachers describe their work at The Learning Circle as a truly rewarding career.  Children are encouraged to make choices throughout the day.  The curriculum choices include reading, blocks, art-educational, and creative/sensory, writing/listening center, manipulates, dramatic, math/science, music/dancing, or large/small motor.  The activities are balanced between child directed and teacher directed activities, quieter and louder play, and active/relaxed activities.
Throughout the day, the children learning from different areas such as art with developing fine motor skills as well as science/sensory for fine motor skills, there is the book of the day that aligns with the weekly theme, there is also circle time, playing with manipulatives to promote development of fine motor skills such as beading, blocks for fine motor, as well as dramatic play such as pretending to live on a pond.  There is also letters time for developing fine motor skills, mathematics and fine motor skills, and social and emotional time such as discussing what kind of habitat you would like to live in.
