Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. hires Ralph R. Johnson, PE, CEM

Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Partner Engineering and Science Inc. (Partner), a California-based engineering, environmental and energy consulting firm, has announced that Ralph R. Johnson, PE, CEM has joined Partner’s Eatontown, New Jersey office. Johnson, a professional engineer (PE) as well as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with over 35 years experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection design, joins Partner as a part of the firm’s expansion of professional engineering services in the Northeast.

“Having Ralph come aboard was a natural fit,” said Frank Romeo, east coast director of operations for Partner. “We were working in a sub-consulting capacity with him and bringing him on as a permanent member of the Partner team sealed our collaborative relationship. We have seen an increase in residential and commercial development, as well as the adaptive reuse of existing properties, both of which require extensive electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing design. Ralph has experience with the innovative design and implementation of these systems and he is a valuable asset to our expanding Building Engineering and Sustainability Department.”

Joining Partner as a Senior Project Manager, Johnson’s previous role as President of his own MEP engineering firm gave him exposure to a large variety of facility designs, including those for educational, commercial, municipal, retail, and residential facilities. Johnson has experience with all phases of engineering projects from initial client contact and kick-off meetings through schematic, design development, and construction documents; construction administration; and project close out.

“Ralph will be directly interfacing with clients and brokering strategic partnerships” said John C. “Chris” Morris III, PE, National Practice Leader in Partner’s Eatontown office. “He has a longstanding reputation as an engineer who is an expert in his field and is well respected throughout the tri-state area.”

Johnson has worked on large projects such as one for a large waterfront mixed-use site that included the development of 470,000 sq ft of residential units, 100,000 sq ft of commercial space and 140,000 sq ft of open parking structures. At a construction cost of $80,000,000, Johnson designed the complete layout of the site including HVAC systems for both the residential and commercial spaces; electrical design including utility panels in each unit, emergency generator, fire alarm system, intercom system, and site lighting; plumbing systems; and complete fire sprinkler systems. For an $18,000,000 addition/alteration project for a public school, Johnson provided complete HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design services for the renovation of an existing 87,000 sq ft and a new addition of 52,000 sq ft.

There are a lot of opportunities here to use my expertise with mechanical and electrical design for new and exciting projects not only on the east coast but nationwide.” said Johnson. “Our ability to be involved in a project at the preliminary stages means an increase in opportunities to get involved with the later stages where MEP design or redesign is necessary.”

Johnson is a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Johnson is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia, and Massachusetts. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
