CARLISLE, Pa. - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- The final specialty show for the Carlisle Events’ season has come and gone and as has been the case since 1982, Corvettes at Carlisle helped wrap this portion of the schedule with a bang.  Though three events remain for Carlisle Events, this is the last one with a dedicated show field, in this case, America’s Sports Car – the Corvette.  Over the course of three days, August 22-24, the grounds came to life and honored the past, present and future of the Corvette brand.  At Carlisle were year one models, pre-production 2015 Z06 coupes and convertibles and everything in between.  Great displays served as an accessory to the event as well and helped continue to draw enthusiasts from around the world.

Corvettes at Carlisle is branded as a three-day event, but passions run deep with those who attend and as such, guests were coming onsite as early as Wednesday, with vendors setting up even earlier.  Thursday during event weekend was as busy, if not busier than a Saturday at some other shows promoted by Carlisle Events and when Thursday is that good for early-bird day, Friday is even better!  When the gates officially opened at 7 a.m. Friday morning, cars cruised onsite nonstop for a myriad of reasons.

Popular stops included the 50th anniversary display of 1964 Corvettes, the CERV II rear engine Corvette that sat within that group, a unique Corvette Challenge Series display, race prepared Corvettes and the NCRS Gallery in Building G.  Thousands of Corvettes were part of the non-judged Fun Field and a select group  positioned themselves in the NCCC judged area for Sanction Sevens judging and recognition.  Between those honors and everyone else who earned a celebrity pick on the Fun Field, the Sunday awards parade was packed with happy Corvette owners and their beautiful Corvettes.

Along with the cool cars on the Fun Field, a dozen or so more were spotlighted within Building T as part of Chip’s Choice.  The 2014 theme was centered on cars that have brought together family and/or friends and have created or solidified unbreakable bonds and ties all because of the Corvette.  Finally, what Corvette show would be complete without some competition and a parade of awesome machinery?  Friday of the show, a handful of cars participated in the burnout competition, while Saturday welcomed a dozen young ladies as part of the beauty contest.  The real crescendo came via the Downtown Carlisle Corvette Parade and Street Party Saturday night.  Some 400 cars lined the streets and were joined by thousands of onlookers.  There was even some live music to take the fun into the night.

Though the 2014 show has come and gone, that doesn’t mean the Corvette theme has concluded.  Carlisle Events wraps its home-based schedule with Fall Carlisle, October 1-5.  As part of this flagship 40th Anniversary celebration, a special 1974-2014 automotive timeline will be on display and will include some cool Corvettes from the past 40 years.  Otherwise, next year’s show is in the planning stages with the event running August 28-30, 2015.  Save the date!
