HONOLULU - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Honolulu, September 2, 2014The Pacific Islands Society has completely redesigned its organizational website. The updated layout offers more intuitive navigation with improved user-friendliness. Visitors will now find it easier to explore the Society’s many programs, publications, galleries, and community resources.

Returning visitors will immediately notice an improvement in the user experience, including a new visual design and streamlined information architecture. This allows the nonprofit to better showcase the top content on the site, including the virtual galleries and publications of participants in its young leaders’ programs.

Furthermore, the site is now optimized for a variety of platforms and devices. So, regardless of whether the user accesses the site from a Mac, PC, smartphone or tablet, it will always appear in the optimal format. This is especially important for the nonprofit’s diverse community of users in the Pacific Islands region who access the site through a wide range of technologies.

“The objective of the new website was to make sure that our website is better optimized for the needs of our community. Over the last two years, we have experienced a huge increase in visitors to our main website. But, most of these new visitors were from North America, Europe, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia,” says the Pacific Islands Society’s Director of Communications, Mohammad Tahboub. “Our core community of Pacific Islanders preferred to interact with us on our Facebook page, which has swelled to over 2,000 followers. One of the reasons for this is that our website was not optimized for their needs. We are therefore excited to be able to re-launch our main website with an entirely new look and feel that is designed first and foremost for these users.”

In conjunction with the new website, the Society is launching eight new publications, including Interviews, Footnotes, Horizons, Security Scholars, Futures, The Wire, Canvas, and Interactions. These provide new platforms for regional policy experts, artists, journalists, healthcare professionals, businesspeople, civil society leaders, and young leaders to share their insights on the most pressing contemporary issues facing the Pacific Islands Region.

The digital agency responsible for the Society’s new website is Plan G Consulting, who undertook the project on a pro bono basis.
