Drone-Mounted Camera Lets RE/MAX Broker Rick Giese To Provide Bird’s Eye View of His Listings

Once reserved for luxury-home listings, aerial photos and videos are popping up in ads for average priced homes and condos, thanks to the use of drones and automated camera systems,

CHESTERFIELD TWP, Mich. - Sept. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- RE/MAX associate broker Rick Giese of Chesterfield Michigan, is a self-described “gadget guy.”  About a year ago, when he saw a YouTube video taken by a tiny video camera mounted on a drone, Rick was hooked and fascinated to say the least.

It's especially popular on the West side, where water, hills, lends drama to even mundane homes.

Rick says his price he is charged depends on the size of the house, but a short video is in the $300 to $500 range.

“My first thought was, ‘What could I do with that?’” said Rick.  “It occurred to me that a video camera on a drone would be an unusual way to show off the homes I list for sale.  It might attract more attention to them, which is exactly what you want in this business.  Plus it would give buyers a different perspective on each home and its surroundings – something they couldn’t easily get otherwise.”

His first decision was that if he was going to use a drone, he would use a professional company to drone video of his client’s homes and condos, while Rick experiments with his own drone gaining knowledge and education before doing videos himself.

“I have to learn how to fly it and how to use it effectively for getting good video footage of a home,” Rick Giese said.

His current challenge is mastering the art of editing the footage his drone captures to create effective 30-second videos that highlight his listings.

Rick has also learned to capture individual images from the drone videos that he uses in the listings he can post on the MLS systems.

“It is an attention getter at this point,” said Rick Giese.  “The drone photos and videos draw people to my listings and bring traffic to my client’s websites.  I’m sure as time passes I’ll find even more ways to make good use of this exciting technology.”

Rick pays for aerial photography himself, as part of his marketing costs, to get his clients the most money the market will pay, in the shortest amount of time, without hassle. "The beauty of adding that extra dimension, in my opinion, sells the property. It is worth every penny we put in to this new exciting marketing and exposure for my clients," Rick Giese says.
