By: RE.WORK The Deep Learning Innovation Summit taking place in San Francisco on 29-30 January will bring together 250 technologists, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders to explore advancements in deep learning and their potential practical applications in business and society. Mission: What is deep learning and why should you care? Deep learning is a set of algorithms used to create contextual understanding in machines. For example, it is the process of teaching machines to think more contextually to recognize specific features that make up an image, or about the relationship between words and how they fit together to form phrases. Recently, deep learning systems have been able to out perform humans in pattern recognition tests. Practical applications include advancements in drug research, security, automation, fraud detection, mapping and manufacturing. Topics include: Neural Networks Deep Learning Algorithms Speech Recognition Image Retrieval Pattern Recognition Spoken Language Identification & Understanding Information Retrieval The sectors and areas of application we'll be covering include: Healthcare Education Communications Language Smart Cities Construction Wearable Technology Robotics Security Confirmed speakers include: Vincent Spruyt, Head of Deep Learning at Argus Labs. Vincent pursued his PhD research in Computer Vision and is an expert on the development of self-learning and context-sensitive algorithms. Argus Labs experiment with profiling algorithms, deep learning and machine intelligence that will ultimately give systems the capability of understanding human behaviour and emotions as contextual items, so that one day we may work and live in a better world. Charles Cadieu, a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT (http://charles.cadieu.us/ Quoc Le is research scientist at Google Brain. At Google, Quoc works on large scale deep learning. He will discuss his work’s breakthroughs in object recognition, speech recognition and language understanding, and how vector representations can be used to solve word analogy or translate unknown words between languages. Roberto Pieraccini, Director of Advanced Conversational Technologies at Jibo (http://www.myjibo.com/ Attendees will include: CTOs, CIOs, Research Scientists, Data Scientists, Big Data Analysts, Software Engineers Tickets & Registration Super Early Bird passes are available now and expire on 5 September. Tickets for startups, students and academics are available for reduced rates.
