The Baptism is a prime example of a classical morality play. The Baptism is something of a gothic tale of a small town run amok. Religious intolerance is the order of the day, leaving truly innocent victims in its wake. The play strives to draw the audience into the show as participants rather than spectators. The plot of The Baptism renders its staging in an actual church, the perfect setting for this truly unique, haunting and memorable production which makes it world premiere in the 100 year old historic chapel on the grounds of CHU. The Baptism represents a truly unique opportunity for actors. “The town gathers on a stormy night for the baptism of May Proctor’s baby son. The audience become congregants and participate in an event they will not soon forget.” *Roles are written for specific age groups and ethnicities such as Lurlene (the Maid), but we are open to all types of seasoned actors to brand-new.
