“Saint Monica University’s identity as an international university is central to our very existence and it is extremely important that we have someone who understands our history, mission, vision, and values at the helm of our US and international operations,”
Under general direction and as part of the senior leadership team, the Vice President of the International Programs and Services will work closely with the Executive Council of the University to lead and develop new self-support international programs and partnerships;
“I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this important office and I am confident that we can grow the Saint Monica University brand in the United States in much the same way as we did in Cameroon,” said Mr. Tanifor. “Saint Monica University is already distinguishing itself as an institution that provides quality, affordable, convenient, flexible, market-oriented, and international education experience to a diverse student population. I am confident that we can rightly position ourselves to become a significant player in the North American educational marketplace by leveraging our online programs as well as establishing a ground presence in the United States.”
Saint Monica University started in the United States with its incorporation in the State of Hawaii, where it remains registered as an online university offering bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. The University then established a ground campus in Buea, Cameroon, and is currently seeking authority to establish a US ground campus in the State of Delaware. It has since 2013 been pursuing US accreditation, but in the meantime it has established strategic partnerships with the following US-based universities – Central State University, Wilberforce, OH; Savannah State University, Savannah, GA; and Sojourner-Douglass College, Baltimore, MD. Our on-campus students can currently begin their programs in Cameroon and complete them at these universities, while our online students can also study here through distance education.
Prior to being appointed as the Vice President of International Programs and Services, Mr. Tanifor was the Director of Administration and Finance at the University. He came to SMU immediately upon completing his Master’s degree in Financial Management from Amity University in India. He was hired in 2012 as the Recruitment and Retention Officer, but his dedication to service was exemplary, leading to his being promoted to the position of Director of Administration and Finance within a year – a position which made him a member of the President’s Executive Council. Mr. Tanifor’s prior work experience was with a bank in Cameroon, where he handled operations, internal control activities, and accounting functions. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Buea, Cameroon and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business & Public Policy with a concentration in Forensic Accounting from SMU.
