HIGHLAND, Ind. - Aug. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Honda continues to display its commitment to safety as the 2015 Honda Fit has received a 2014 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Japanese auto manufacturer has more Top Safety Pick rated vehicles than any other manufacturer, so it comes as no surprise that no other vehicle in the subcompact class has earned a higher safety rating than the 2015 Fit. Bosak Honda in Highland offers a full selection of the latest Honda vehicles, including the new Honda Fit.

In order to be designated as a Top Safety Pick vehicle, this Honda subcompact model needed to receive a “Good” rating four of the IIHS crash tests, in addition to earning an “Acceptable” score in the small overlap frontal crash test.

Originally tested in March, the 2015 Honda Fit earned a “Good” rating in four of the five crash tests. However, it received a “Marginal” score in the small overlap frontal crash test. In order to make sure the Fit was rated as a Top Safety Pick, Honda modified the front bumper structure, a successful move for subsequent testing. This new bumper has since been incorporated into production of this Honda model.

Art St. Cyr, vice president of auto operations at American Honda, said they were “...not satisfied with anything but a Top Safety Pick for the new 2015 Honda Fit...” which demonstrates the manufacturer’s commitment to consumer safety.

St. Cyr also added that while there was no requirement for Honda to change the design of the front bumper it keeps with “...Honda’s long-standing commitment to safety.”

Further enhancing driver and passenger safety is the Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure that the new Fit utilizes. The strengthened body structure allows for improved frontal crash energy and helps limit the amount of force delivered in an accident.

Other standard safety features include side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, Honda LaneWatch, hill start assist, and a multi-angle rearview camera.

Honda has long been a leader in enhancing the safety of not only its drivers and passengers, but of all road users.
