NEW YORK - Aug. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- WikiTrend.org, the leading trends-spotting consortium, is reporting a rise in healthier fast food choices.

“We’re seeing a massive reinvention of how fast food companies operate,” says a WikiTrend.org spokesperson. “Companies are looking at their offerings and realizing they have to update their menus to stay current with trends in healthy eating, sustainability, natural ingredients, and so on and so forth.”

Recent data shows that the fastest growing restaurants are fast food joints. A space has been found in the market, and restaurants like LYFE, SweetGreen, and Tender Greens are quickly gaining market share. At the same time, existing brands are diversifying to offer healthier menus. McDonald’s is offering more salads and fruits. Competitors, like Burger King and Chik-Fil-A are offering healthier ingredients, like new french fry recipes and higher quality meat. An English chain, YO! Sushi, is offering a sushi burger as a healthy alternative. There’s also the new trend of smaller portion sizes, like sliders and half-sized sandwiches.

“Consumers still want the convenience and speed of fast food,” says a WikiTrend.org spokesperson. “People are always on the go, and they want something quick and easy. But they also want healthier options, and we’re seeing a dramatic market shift as traditional players work to adapt and new entries work to fill the void.”
