International Downtown Association Presents 2014 Downtown Pinnacle Awards to 9 Organizations

IDA Presents 42 Other Merit Awards Recognizing Excellence in Downtown Leadership and Management, Economic and Business Development, Events and Programming, Marketing and Communications, Planning, and Public Space
 
OTTAWA, Ontario - Sept. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- (Ottawa, O.N.) - At its 60th Anniversary Conference & Tradeshow, the International Downtown Association (IDA) today recognized 51 urban development projects as winners of its 2014 Downtown Achievement Awards, which recognize outstanding improvements to downtown areas by the work of dedicated individuals around the globe.  The winning projects represent six categories, including: Downtown Leadership and Management; Economic and Business Development; Events and Programming; Marketing and Communications; Planning; and Public Space. The top nine winning projects received Pinnacle Awards, with 42 winning Merit Awards.

The winning organizations represent more than 40 cities in the U.S., Canada, Singapore, South Africa, and The Bahamas.  Each award honors an exceptional project, in a variety of categories and stages of completion. Winners of this year’s Pinnacle Award – IDA’s top prizes in each category- are:

·         Wichita Downtown Development Corporation for Evolving to Maximize Development in the Downtown Leadership and Management Category

·         Sundance Square for Sundance Square Plaza in the Downtown Leadership and Management Category

·         Downtown Sacramento Partnership for Call All Dreamers Business Competition in the Economic and Business Development Category

·         Cooper’s Ferry Partnership / Camden Special Services District for Camden Night Gardens in the Events and Programming Category

·         Town Green Special Services District for An Innovative Event that Transformed the Neighborhood in the Events and Programming Category

·         DUMBO Improvement District for DUMBO Test Kitchen in the Events and Programming Category

·         City of London and Downtown London for Downtown Millennium Plan – 15 Years Later in the Planning Category

·         Charlotte Center City Partners for Uptown Charlotte Land Swap in the Planning Category

·         City of Kelowna for Bernard Avenue Revitalization in the Public Space Category
