ULLSWATER, U.K. - Aug. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Home to the oldest native red deer herd in England, the conservation area on the western shores of Ullswater is the perfect place to catch sight of the Red Deer Rut.

The enchanting competition – which involves the biggest and strongest males in the herd trying to round up the females (hinds) for mating – results in a bellowing echo around the fells as dominance is fought for.

With stunning mountain scenery and gushing waterfalls, the Eden Valley is a wonderful place to be as the autumn colours shine through, and what better excuse to visit than to see one of nature’s amazing sights?

And the award-winning Ullswater Steamers will be offering a unique opportunity to see the rut with their Red Deer Rut Cruises between October 9th and 12th.

The popular events, led by RSPB guides, depart at Glenridding for a calming cruise along the waters of the lake, before stopping at Howtown where a short bus ride to Martindale and a ten-minute walk will follow.

Good quality viewing equipment is even on hand thanks to the RSPB, so you are sure to get a glimpse of this natural wonder on you reach the conservation area.
