IP Kat Reviews Dr. Kalyan's Pirates of Bollywood

BANGALORE, India - Aug. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- On 25th August, 2014, IP KAT, arguably the  best intellectual property blog in the world,  published a review of Pirates of Bollywood, Dr. Kalyan's second legal thriller. Kat Friend Shalini reviewed the novel in IP Kat's Monday miscellany, and rated the legal thriller very highly. Excerpts from the review read as follows:

Masala  movie, albeit with the only difference that the author casts his mojo by interweaving the legal aspects of the copyright law debate within its theatrical setting of Bollywood in Mumbai.

The protagonists of this story are Arjun. the famed IP lawyer, and Helen Joseph, the young, energetic and dynamic Assistant Commissioner of Police in Mumbai. The reader’s attention would also be caught by the hapless character of Ilahi who is a teen selling pirated DVDs. The author manages to evoke the reader's sympathy for the likes of Ilahi as well as the assassin who commits cold-blooded murder in the story, by justifying their venality: the former is the only bread-winner for the family of six and the latter had a little sister suffering from spastic cerebral palsy, a physical disability due to brain damage."

Dr. Kalyan Kankanala, a leading IP attorney in India had embarked on fiction writing in 2013, and his first work, Road Humps and Sidewalks, a patent law thriller received excellent reviews. This second work of Dr. Kalyan, another legal thriller, revolves around copyright law and brings to the reader a story of film producers, pirates, stars, cops and the mafia. It also gives a terrorist angle to the piracy business, which linkage has been expounded by many scholars.
