IEEE CS and AT&T to Host Hackathon in Conjunction with Rock Stars of Cybersecurity

IEEE Computer Society and AT&T will be holding an #ATTHACK Mobile App Hackathon on September 19-20 in Austin, Texas, in conjunction with the September 24 Rock Stars of Cybersecurity conference in Austin.
 
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - Aug. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 26 August 2014 -- IEEE Computer Society and AT&T will be holding an #ATTHACK Mobile App Hackathon on September 19-20 in Austin, Texas, in conjunction with the September 24 Rock Stars of Cybersecurity conference in Austin.

Creative developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and students interested in hacking away the weekend are invited to register at http://atthackatx.eventbrite.com/?aff=IEEE.

For this hackathon, AT&T and IEEE Computer Society are challenging developers to build embedded systems and wearable solutions leveraging mobile technology, APIs, and anything else. Lightning talks will be held by Josh Greenbaum, Principal of Enterprise Applications Consulting, and Will Hurley, Co-founder of Chaotic Moon Studios, to jumpstart development and get ideas flowing.

Loaner equipment will include ARM mbed boards, Arduino boards, Tessels, and even a Quadricopter. Senseis from AT&T, IEEE, and local groups will be onsite to help teams hack their solutions.

The hackathon begins at 6 p.m. Friday, September 19 with a kickoff event with dinner, networking, and developer meetings, followed by team formation. Breakfast will be served the next day. The hackathon ends at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 20.

First-place prizes of $500 will be awarded for Best Hackathon Overall App and Best Use of an AT&T API. The apps will be judged based on the ability to clearly articulate the app's function, originality of idea, and difficulty of the technical implementation.

The September 24 Rock Stars of Cybersecurity at Brazos Hall features a strong lineup of security innovators, along with problem-solving, networking, collaboration, food, and exhibits. Speakers at the must-attend conference include:
