Lifetime Montessori School San Diego Educator Teaches the Montessori Method

One of the classes is based on the development of language. For example, in a Montessori classroom teachers and parents enable the child to express himself to build self-confidence. He or she needs to feel accepted when communicating, so we look the child in the eye and acknowledge what he’s saying. Parents are part of the process, too; they help the child organize his thoughts to express himself clearly—and then engage him in conversation about that topic. Finally, parents and teachers help enrich the child’s vocabulary by talking precisely and exactly.

“These topics are wonderful insights into a systematic methodology of how to train your children in top-line and bottom-line ways,” Kristin said during a break in the conference. “Overall, we try to foster independence in children; so teaching a child how to tie his shoes and then letting him do that by himself allows the child a strong sense of self.”

During the conference, we tackle both philosophies and tactics. Many ‘regular’ teachers find the methods to be a refreshing way to teach instead of rote,” she said.
