This year's focus was on the ongoing drought and the devastating effects on our trees, read on!
This years seminar included many high powered speakers from academia, government and private industry who discussed several important topics pertaining to tree, soils, insects and the effects of drought. Politics were left at the door, this was all about learning about the current facts and effects of an enduring drought and declining trees. Topics were varied, including a simplified landscape irrigation demand estimation technique to address the minimum supplemental water required to replenish water lost through a tree's evapo-transpiration by Dr. Roger Kjelgren, Professor at Utah State University. Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott discussedhow to treat and avoid drought stress in landscape trees, others discussed water supply, planning for future restrictions, and tree insects.
