The VAAB’s mission is to serve the Asian community in Virginia and to encourage and support all constituents and government officials in making positive changes to make the Commonwealth even better. The VAAB is dedicated to advising the Governor on ways to strengthen cultural and economic links between Virginia and Asian nations, focusing on trade and commerce, education and art, and general government.
The Virginia Asian Advisory Board has twenty-one members who are appointed by the Governor. The VAAB meets throughout the year and creates an annual report that informs the Governor of their recommendations for such areas as business, trade, health, and education. Before being appointed as Secretary, Attorney Bhimdi Ahmed served as a Board Member of the VAAB.
