Follow on Google News | Occupational Asthma Discussed in New Online VideoThe IAQ Video Network releases another educational video about important environmental, health & safety (EHS) issues.
Occupational asthma, also referred to as work-related asthma, is the most common occupational lung disease in the United States. According to OSHA, “An estimated 11 million workers in a wide range of industries and occupations are exposed to at least one of the numerous agents known to be associated with occupational asthma. Occupational factors are associated with up to 15 percent of disabling asthma cases in the United States.” “Occupational asthma occurs due to exposure to allergens or irritants at work or on the jobsite,”said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network. “The National Institutes of Health (NIH) states that more than 250 substances are known or believed to cause or exacerbate work-related asthma. The condition reduces productivity and quality of life and increases costs to employees, families, businesses and taxpayers. We hope this new video helps to shed some light on this topic.” This educational video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that help to protect the public’s health. Sponsors include: EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, ProcessMAP and Healthy Indoors magazine to name a few.
