PRLog - Aug. 23, 2014 - HOUSTON -- The poet JF Anstead will read the poem STARS. It is a romantic poem well liked by critics and just about anyone who reads it. A reviewer of a previous book of poetry touted STARS as “an unusual poem.”
The poetry that will be read is from an upcoming book called THE LIGHT AT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. The book will be in print and on e-book in November of this year. THE LIGHT AT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE will contain short stories and poetry. The stories are Spiritual Fantasies. The poetry that will be read in the video ranges from Romantic to Metaphysical to Literary Intellectual and even comedic in nature.
The Poet JF Anstead was born in Enid, Oklahoma, May 2, 1962. Enid is a welsh word made famous by Arthurian legends. It literally means soul.His full name is Joseph Frank Anstead.
Because his father was a cartographer and his mother an award winning Panamanian artist he grew up in a series of latin American countries. His very young years were spent in the Andean country of Ecuador. There in the third grade he asked his older sister how to write a poem. His homework assignment made it absolutely necessary. He did not know then that he would be writing poems for the rest of his life.
His late elementary school years he spent in Nicaragua. There he experienced a large natural disaster by way of the 1972 Managua earthquake. While going to school he invented a club called the Spy League of America. It was very successful and the money he made off it lasted him about six years. But it was the friends that he made that he remembered most.
His early High School years were spent in Panama, Canal Zone. It was there in the ninth grade that he was published for the first time in the school newspaper. It was the end of an era as soon as he left, the Canal Zone ceased to exist. The world was changing.
His late High School years he spent in Mclean, Virginia a suburb of Washington D.C.. There he took classes at the American Film Institute and later attended George Mason University. He went on to win an award at the Potomac Film festival for a short video about poetry called Le Noir. He also worked a while at an award winning documentary company.
Later he would work for the Defense Information Systems Agency that overlooked all the computer networks for the military. He was an Internet Developer specializing in web animation.
He would go on to design the first 3-D virtual reality shopping mall for a
company named Cybereality.
He is the Poet in Residence for The First Unitarian Universalist Church, The Cooperfield Campus.
