Keeping Us Safe’s “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professional Certification program has been designed to equip Matthews and other professionals throughout the United States and Canada with the tools necessary to help older drivers and their families work through the complicated issues of age-related diminishing driving skills.
Matthews joins Lisa Profio, LPN, who has been providing Keeping Us Safe’s “self-assessment program for older drivers” as part of the University Hospitals-Parma Medical Center’s Elder Center’s service offerings since February 2012.
“Laura Matthews is a very welcome addition to the program” says Matt Gurwell, a retired Ohio State Trooper and founder of Keeping Us Safe. “Her skill set, formal education, professional experience and her life-long passion for helping older adults makes her a very valuable asset to the program and to the community alike.”
Certification in the Beyond Driving with Dignity program is designed to be a common-sense approach to facilitate (and often times mediate!) rational, common-sense driving-related solutions based on tangible facts and personal observations.
“The ‘Beyond Driving with Dignity’ program provides concerned families with the missing link between their desire to bring the driving issue to a peaceful resolution, and their ability to actually do so", explains Matthews.
