Senator Elizabeth Warren Visits Heywood Hospital

GARDNER, Mass. - Aug. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Gardner, MA – Heywood Hospital welcomed Senator Elizabeth Warren, along with Senator Jennifer Flanagan and Representative Jonathan Zlotnik to its campus on Thursday, August 21st.

As part of her “Fighting for Massachusetts” Campaign, Senator Warren, along with Senator Flanagan and Representative Zlotnik, briefly toured Heywood Hospital’s Behavioral Health Units before addressing a group of hospital employees and physicians.

Senator Flanagan spoke about the work being done in the Massachusetts Legislature surrounding behavioral health and addiction services, an area she has been passionate about since her election to office in 2004.

Senator Warren shared at that she was Heywood to learn as much as she could and vowed to “go back to Washington and be a more effective advocate. I want to see people have access to high quality healthcare.”

Both Senators praised the Heywood Hospital facility and the work being done in the Greater Gardner and North Quabbin regions, including Heywood Healthcare’s plans to open a new behavioral health and substance abuse care facility in Petersham. Senator Flanagan noted that the federal delegation needs to be an ally in improving the fragmented and broken behavioral health and addiction services system and work to make it whole to provide quality care to all the families in the Commonwealth.
