Lawyer Leaves Wall Street To Touch Lives, One Story At A Time

NEW YORK - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Lisann Valentin, a New York actress and attorney, joins the ensemble cast of I Like to Be Here, in the role of Adela, an Ecuadorian baker in Jackson Heights.

Valentin balanced the practice of law with the pursuit of acting for many years, but spending her days on Wall Street and nights on film sets made it clear that she had to make a choice: “I will never let go of my license, but it’s time to follow my passion. As an actress I am able to reach people on a more meaningful level.  It’s an amazing feeling.”

I Like To Be Here: Jackson Heights Revisited, or, This Is A Mango, is the newest, edgiest piece from Theatre 167, the company that created The Jackson Heights Trilogy, described by TheaterMania as "an epic song of America's most diverse neighborhood."


“The roles I take on must have a sense of importance to me,” says Valentin, “and playing Adela, who is a true romantic in a place as colorful as Jackson Heights, just brings a sense of hope. Hope is the thing we cling to, the thing that helps us make it through each day. No matter where you come from, that resonates with all of us.”

When asked why she was leaving the practice of law now, the actress said, “I’ve been telling stories in the Courtroom for years but now I am committed to telling stories that will really touch lives…that means everything to me.”
