Reducing Crime In Indianapolis While Providing Jobs

A new secured truck parking lot in Indianapolis aiming to lower crime and increase business in the community

INDIANAPOLIS - Aug. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- An intermodal terminal recently opened in Indianapolis.  The new terminal primarily moves freight from Canada bypassing the congested Chicago terminals.  As a result Indianapolis will experience an economic boost as it takes a percentage of Chicago’s lucrative international shipping business.  The increase the flow of freight through the Indianapolis intermodal terminal will require an increase in the number of semi trucks moving through the city to move the cargo further along the country.

To increased number of semi trucks on local roads and in existing rest areas are not the problem.  The problem comes from the increase in freight related crime that occurs in unsecure parking lots and rest areas.  An old saying in the trucking business is “cargo at rest is cargo at risk.”  The risk is chiefly due to criminals.

The problem of freight related crime is becoming larger and larger as crime rates and the use of violence in crimes increases.  Increasing crime rates and unsecured parking areas also affect road safety, since truck drivers need to be able to comply with the required driving and resting times.

Fleet Yards Inc. (http://www.fleetyardsinc.com) is opening a new high-tech secured truck parking lot and drop yard in Indianapolis at 2460 North Graham Avenue to combat the problem and reduce the negative effect the increase in semi trucks in Indianapolis may have.  The secure parking lot will be guarded 24 hours a day and include high definition CCTV camera monitored offsite for added security.  Other security features will be used but company representatives did not want to disclose them citing security risks.

Company representatives of Fleet Yards say that the new Indianapolis secure drop yard will use the most modern anti-theft tools to deter criminal groups that focus on truck freight.  They say there is concern that organized theft rings active in the Chicago area will be attracted down into Indianapolis thinking the new yards will be easier targets.  Dan Otting, president of Fleet Yards stated,  “We want the thieves to know that stealing in Indianapolis will get them caught.  So don’t even bother trying.”

Fleet Yards believes that by taking security seriously from the start Indianapolis will enjoy the economic benefits of the new intermodal terminal without experiencing the associated crime and safety issues commonly experienced in the Chicago.  The new Indianapolis secure parking lot opens August 23, 2014.  For more information on the secure trailer parking lot and drop yard in Indianapolis contact Fleet Yards toll free at (877) 240-7275 or visit their corporate website at http://www.fleetyardsinc.com
