“This accolade affirms our focus on quality and customer satisfaction, and represents an important phase in our company’s development. We have a great team. They work every day to improve our performance in every area of our business. We are relentless in our quality journey” said Tom French.
French Brothers received a bronze award in 2014 and acted upon recommendations that they received during the audit process to become stronger and more process driven, resulting in a silver award this year. “Based on the examiners’ findings, our commitment is to incorporate those recommendations and grow ourselves into a Gold Award level company,” added French.
The NHQA consists of a set of eight criteria: leadership, strategic planning, process management, customer satisfaction, human resources, construction quality, trade partnerships and business results and has four levels of recognition:
NHQA is more than an awards program for home builders, it is a program designed to help home builders achieve future goals. The application in itself requires a lengthy, intensive review of a company’s processes and can be used to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. This self-assessment includes a detailing of how an organization addresses each of the criteria and their plan for implementing a strategy and method that will improve business results. “We like to say that we are better than we were a year ago, and we will be better a year from now. It just never ends” said Jim French.
The NHQA application is reviewed by a team of judges who are experts in both the homebuilding industry and quality management. Those that are approved by the judges receive a site visit by a judging team that may last several days. In either case, the applicant receives a detailed actionable feedback report to support continued improvement.
Owned by Tom, his brother Jim French and Corrine Bachman, French Brothers started as a custom home builder that recognized a need for high quality housing that is also affordable to most homebuyers. They operate in Alamogordo, Roswell, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. In order to provide buyers with the best value, French Brothers offers a large suite of plans that can be customized with a variety of options and upgrades. As Bachman states, “this isn’t just business, it’s personal”.
In addition to quality homes and upgrades, every home built by French Brothers Homes comes standard with its Platinum Energy Package. On average, French Brothers homes are up to 20 percent more efficient than Energy Star homes and up to 40 percent more efficient than a 20-year-old home built to code.
French Brothers currently builds new homes in seven communities throughout Alamogordo, three in Roswell, and one in Las Cruces, with prices from the mid-$150,000s to high-$300,000s.
