Texas Swim Academy Partners with Autism Speaks to Provide Scholarships for Swimming Programs

HOUSTON - Aug. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Texas Swim Academy has partnered with Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism and science advocacy organization to provide swimming lessons for all families.

As a new recipient of the Autism Speaks Swimming and Water Safety Scholarship Program, Texas Swim Academy will provide Adaptive Aquatics program scholarships to swimmers with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

The Autism Speaks Swimming and Water Safety Scholarship Fund selects eligible organizations and programs to to identify qualified financially disadvantaged individuals on the autism spectrum and offer scholarship funds for swimming and water safety lessons.

Founded in 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism, Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding research for the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures for autism. The organization seeks to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism as well as their families.

Texas Swim Academy's goal as a swimming and water safety organization is to provide all families in the Houston and Katy areas with access to "results-oriented" programs, including families of children with special needs. With a new scholarship program set in place, Texas Swim Academy continues their passion for sharing essential life skills of water safety and swimming to even more students. "We're proud to share the same mission and collaborate with this organization to further raise awareness and provide support for those on the autism spectrum," said Texas Swim Academy owner, Kathleen McMordie.
