Freemont Foundation 5k Run/walk Grand Marshalls Announced

ATLANTA - Aug. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA, August 15, 2014– Two of Atlanta’s prominent physicians will serve as Grand Marshals for the Freemont Foundation’s “Represent Yourself 5K Run/Walk” to be held in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park on September 6, 2014.

Dr. Albert Barrocas, M.D., F.A.C.S., Chief Medical Officer at the Atlanta Medical Center, had these reflections on Dr. James Freemont.

“What an appropriate way to give tribute to such an honorable man.”  “Ironically, Jim”, as he referred to Dr. Freemont, “was Chief of Staff at AMC, but he wasn’t much of a walker; he was more of a talker.  At the end of the event I am sure he’d be looking forward to eating a nice sized pork chop… fried of course.  He proved to me that laughter is the best form of medicine. ”

Dr. M. Gerald Hood, M.D., OB/GYN,   is also serving as a Grand Marshal for the event.  Dr. Hood had the following reflections:

“I am an active participant with all of the (Freemont) Foundation’s events,” boast Dr. Gerald Hood, a colleague and close friend of Dr. Freemont for nearly 30 years.  He was such a giving person, even to those he didn’t know. I expect quite a turn out at the Walk-A-Thon.  So many people want to follow those footprints of giving.”

Dr. Joi Freemont, Freemont Foundation Chairperson stated that this event is a critical component in raising funds and awareness of the foundation’s primary mission to provide scholarships and college preparation training  for students in all disciplines.

The James M. and Erma T. Freemont foundation is a 501 (c) (3) that continues the legacy of Dr. James M. Freemont in supporting deserving students in completing their educational training and becoming productive citizens who give back to their communities.
