“It’s hard to believe Blue has been open for 12 years already,” said Kelli O’Reilly, Blue’s general manager and co-owner. “Many of customers have been supporting us since the beginning and we are so grateful to them and to everyone that comes in,” she added. O’Reilly also indicated that many people that started out as customers, have become friends over the years.
To celebrate their anniversary with friends and customers, the restaurant is offering a special $12 menu through August, as well as ‘Throwback Thursday’ specials, reviving select menu items on Thursday’s that are announced on their Facebook page.
Blue at the Topaz offers indoor dining, as well as outdoor dining on a Victorian wrap-around porch. Some of their menu items include; Crabmeat Stuffed Portabella Mushroom, Seared Ahi Tuna, Blackened Sea Scallop Salad, Mahi Mahi Almondine, Filet Mignon, as well as vegetarian dishes and desserts.
Most of the staff has been at Blue since they opened their doors in 2002. Their special event banquet room is a mini-museum with memorabilia from the 19th and 20th centuries. There are antique toys, historic train sets, and photos of the Topaz Hotel from its humble beginnings when nothing else surrounded it on the beach. They are located at 1224 S. Oceanshore Blvd. in Flagler Beach and their normal operating hours are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
