There are many reasons to own a compact digital camera. Many large frame cameras (such as DSLR’s) are too large to conveniently carry on your person at all times, and many smart phone cameras don’t offer the same quality or options as a good compact digital camera. Also, the battery lives of both DSLR’s and smart phones simply don’t live up to the extended battery life of a compact digital camera.
Compact digital cameras:
· Are small enough to always have on your person
· Have a picture quality that is both good enough to accurately capture a scene and to impress your friends
· Have an exceptional battery life (and you can normally use your own batteries, no more hassle of recharging)
· Can quickly take photos with their auto mode, meaning you can pull it out, take a quick snap, and put it back without missing a beat
· Offer a digital zoom on top of the analog zoom, meaning you zoom in far more then any other kind of camera
· Automate most of the settings for you, so the camera can do all the hard work, all you have to do is press the button
As you can see, the pro’s of owning a compact digital camera far out weigh the con (which is simply the price, hardly a negative in itself).
The things to look for in a camera depend on what you want to use that camera for. Megapixels is important but the a large size picture does not always mean that it is of the best quality. You want to look for how the quality of the photos are. If possible, try and find a few example shots taken by the camera and compare them to other (similar) shots from other cameras. The name that produces a camera is important as most companies tend to use similar sensors in all their products, so a Canon camera may consistently have better photos. The best thing I’ve found is to choose a well known company that makes reliable products and then stick to them.
The goal of this simple blog is to make several compact digital camera reviews available to you, offering you priceless information so you can quickly make your decision, and most posts include a direct link so you can easily buy your new-found memory maker.
