LANHAM, Md. - Aug. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- When Nadine Connor celebrates her 100th birthday later this month, she intends to enjoy a meal from McDonald’s.

“That’s what she asked to have for her lunch with her son,” said Dianne Bissell, Activities Director at The Residence on Greenbelt, a senior living community in Lanham, Md. “Nadine is such a great, caring person, and she deserves a special treat on such a milestone day.”

Connor, whose birthday is Aug. 20, is among a group of centenarians residing at the Residence on Greenbelt, a senior living community which offers four distinct lifestyle options. Residents receive highly individualized services in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Special Needs, and Life Stories Memory Care.

Mary Seath and Eula Jones each are 102 years old, and were recently honored during parties commemorating their birthdays. In June, Robert L. Cox celebrated his 99th birthday while he was in California, but the staff at The Residence on Greenbelt intends to recognize the date.

All four seniors received cards from the White House in recognition of their birthdays.

“We’ve been blessed to share the life stories with these truly remarkable individuals,” Bissell said.

The Residence on Greenbelt milestone birthday club includes:

Nadine Connor

Soon to turn 100, Connor was born in Denver, Colo., Aug. 20, 1914. She left Denver in 1942 for a federal government job in Washington, D.C.

While in Washington, she met and married her husband, Army officer Frank Connor.  Nadine and Frank Connor have one son, Timothy. The Connors lived in the Greenbelt area for 43 years.

Nadine Connor worked for Walter Reed and the Department of Justice for 39 years. She enjoyed ice skating, reading and bingo.  She attributes her long life to family history.

Eula Jones

Born in Wath, N.C., in February 1912, Jones grew up on a farm as the oldest of eight children.  She moved to the Washington, D.C. area in the 1930’s.

She was married and had one son. Both her husband and son are deceased. Jones was a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital until her retirement.

She was very active in church and sang in the choir. Jones attributes her long life to a healthy life style, stating she never drank or smoked and ate healthy foods.

Mary Seath

Born in Montana in 1912, Seath was raised on a 118-acre ranch where she remembers gathering eggs. Mary’s husband, Byron, was a minister who accepted no pay for his services.  Byron passed away more than 40 years ago.

Mary has a daughter, Carol, and a granddaughter, Patricia.  Mary taught in Washington, D.C. public schools for over 33 years. She enjoyed roller skating and ice skating and attributes her long life to having a little beer or wine when she was younger.

Robert L. Cox

Born in Quincy, Fla. in June 1915, Cox grew up on a farm. He finished high school late because of illness in the family and graduated at the age of 21. Cox attended Florida A&M for a brief period.

Cox was a standout at sports in high school and college. He married Lorraine Walton in 1938 and in 1942 he joined the US Army.

After his retirement from the service, he was employed by the Macy Company from 1962 to 1980. His wife died in 2003 after 64 years, 8 months of marriage.

Cox enjoys sports, good music and having fun. He contributes his long life to trusting in God and doing the right thing. Bob always has his door open for all the residents to hear his love of good music.
