ATLANTA - Aug. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) and Georgia’s top accounting firms are working together to address Georgia’s hunger issue by creating a friendly food and fund drive competition — the Georgia Accounting Food Fight. GSCPA invites accounting firms statewide to participate in this event with the hope of raising $50,000 and 25,000 pounds of food to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank and six regional Georgia food banks.

Firms participating in the Georgia Accounting Food Fight will conduct a food and fund drive at their offices from Aug. 11 to 22. The Food Bank will weigh the food collected, and each pound of food will count as one point. Each dollar collected will count as four points. The firm with the most points will win bragging rights and special promotion.

Across Georgia, 28 percent of children are food insecure, and about 20 percent of the state’s overall population struggles with hunger. Through the Georgia Accounting Food Fight, GSCPA hopes to make a tremendous impact on the lives of families, children and individuals struggling with hunger.

“By joining the Georgia Accounting Food Fight, we can demonstrate the strength, commitment and care of our profession while making an incredible impact in our community. We can use our one voice to give hope to so many in need,” GSCPA CEO, Boyd Search, said.
