Americans are invited to experience Cuba with Atlanta-based nonprofit, Go Eat Give

ATLANTA - Aug. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- This unique excursion is more than a Caribbean getaway; it is a rare opportunity to see the world from a new perspective, to gain insight on a culture that has been shielded from American eyes for decades, and to give back to the global community.

Led by Go Eat Give Board Member Sadia Walker, the trip will be part volunteering, part vacationing, and all authentically Cuban - complete with the legendary food, beaches, music, art, and architecture of Havana. Designed to be a safe and genuine experience, the trip includes several planned outings with built-in free time for personal exploration.

Throughout the week, the group will stay at the lovely Hotel Presidente in the heart of Havana’s entertainment district. Full days will focus on learning the history of Havana, but this will be nothing like sitting in a classroom. A walking tour will highlight the largest collection of remaining colonial-era architecture, breathtaking palaces, museums, and cathedrals that make Havana unique and vibrant. Each day, the group will get to know one another over delicious meals in the city’s most authentic privately-owned restaurants.

Go Eat Give is the only nonprofit organization that offers hands-on volunteering opportunities in Cuba. In addition to bringing donations, travelers will also spend a considerable amount of time volunteering at UBPC Vivero Organopónico Alamar, one of the most successful urban organic farms in Cuba; Convento Belen, a humanitarian home for the elderly; and at Fusterlandia, an ongoing community art mural project of Cuban artist, Jose Fuster.

“My experience of visiting Cuba with Go Eat Give was nothing short of amazing! Every day was a new opportunity to see and learn. Over the course of our stay we toured Havana, experienced local culture, visited the Partagás cigar factory, ate at both state and family-run restaurants, and learned about Cuban history. The program fee is $2,559 per person based on double occupancy and does not include airfare to Cuba. Group size is limited to 15 passengers only.
