NEWTOWN, Pa. - Aug. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Dr. Steven M. Pertes recently completed training with Myopain Seminars to become a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT).

It is the most comprehensive training in dry needling available in the United States and Dr. Pertes is currently the only therapist in Pennsylvania to hold this accreditation. Dry needling is the use of either solid filiform needles or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain. Combining acupuncture theory with the physical therapy approach of releasing myofascial trigger points and stress holding patterns, allows Dr. Pertes to help many problems that are not responsive to other more common interventions such as medications, chiropractic or physical therapy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from New York University, a Masters of Science from Tri-State College of Acupuncture, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree from Temple University. Specialized to the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries, he holds offices in both Newtown and Doylestown.
