STERLING, Va. - Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Abrakadoodle is bringing its award-winning creative, mobile art programs to benefit children and adults with the addition of its newest franchise unit in Northwest Greater Houston, Texas. This marks an expansion since the 2013 opening of two Abrakadoodle units in downtown Houston and Katy, Texas. New owner Norma Serrato will be providing a wide range of art programs to include visual arts classes, camps, workshops, in-school field trips, special events and arty parties at schools, community centers, and other sites that serve children. Abrakadoodle also offers creative art programs and social art parties and events through its Art Splash program, which is designed specifically for adults.  Abrakadoodle will be establishing programs at schools and sites throughout Northwest Houston, as well as Cypress, Tomball, Klein and areas in Spring. Ms. Serrato is joined by Lida Busch, who will be a manager responsible for teaching classes, managing teachers and assisting with program marketing.

“We are delighted to welcome Norma Serrato to our award-winning Abrakadoodle franchise system,” said Rosemarie Hartnett, CFE, President and Co-Founder of Abrakadoodle, Inc. “She brings an impressive educational background and a career in management along with a strong belief in the importance of education and creativity, which I am confident will help ensure her success.”

Norma Serrato earned an MBA from Rice University in 2013. She worked in project management and business consulting for 20 years, having transferred from Mexico to Houston in 1996 where she worked for a building materials company. A downsizing caused Norma to re-think her priorities. “I deeply value education and wanted to be a part of something meaningful. When I read about Abrakadoodle I was very attracted by the program’s approach towards stimulating creativity and developing new skills, besides teaching art styles, techniques and art history” Ms. Serrato commented.

Born in Monterey, Mexico and having traveled extensively for business and for pleasure across every continent except Oceania, Norma Serrato comes to her Abrakadoodle business with a strong world view, which is complemented by a family history in education. She remarked, “Abrakadoodle stands apart with its quality multi-cultural education programs that can make a difference in the lives of children. Besides, Abrakadoodle develops creativity; something highly valued in today’s economy.”

Lida Busch, a mother of three, possesses a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering and worked as an IT Analyst and a technology teacher. She moved from Venezuela to Houston in 1995. She and Norma met in 1996 at an English class and established a long-lasting friendship. “Both our fathers were entrepreneurs,” Mrs. Busch commented and added, “When Norma told me about Abrakadoodle, I welcomed this opportunity to help her develop this business. I think our skills complement one another.”
