Follow on Google News | 9 year old grandson and 60 year grandma from Clendenin, West Virginia become business partnersMichael is the 9 yr. old who came up with the business idea ALL because he wants to buy a house as an adult and not rent an apartment! Tamara is his 60 yr. old grandma who enjoys to sew and looks forward to this new business venture with her grandson
Within a few hours of arriving back home he came up with the idea of his “New Business” and gave me the proposal. It was to make fun-themed, colorful and fun pillowcases for a goodnight’s sleep. At first I wondered if this was something he would commit to and continue to do. Like most children, Michael can come up with a lot of great ideas but lack in the follow through, except this time he was full throttle and took on a business partner, his 60 year old grandma! My mother-in-law is Tamara and is more like a mother to me than an in-law. She moved in with us a few years ago when her health began to fail even though that has never gotten the best of her. She is a bright and vibrant woman who enjoys her days playing online solitaire and doing a little online shopping (mainly for purses). She has many different health conditions that has her on oxygen 24/7 but with a great portable oxygen machine nothing holds her back, especially if going shopping is on the agenda for the day! As I mentioned before, Michael is 9 years old and just started 4th grade. He is a cub scout first year Webelos and loves to play online games like Minecraft. When the day is nice he enjoys riding his bike outside and playing with his friends. When it raining he enjoy Legos or sewing on my machine. His latest project he made (before the business idea) was a square superman pillow for his new superman room! He knows all aspects of a sewing machine and enjoys using it and creating things. Michael told his grandma the idea for the business and officially asked her to join him in the venture. She was more than happy to jump on board and they began talking about all the great types of pillowcases they could make. So far the discussions have been from camo to floral and boats to colorful patterns. The great thing is that fabrics now a days range so greatly that they can make almost anything their hearts desire. Tamara and Michael each have a sewing machine to use and start their business. They both sat down to think up the name of the business and decided on “Goodnight Pillowcases” The store will be an Etsy store by the name of Goodnight Pillowcases and at this point we have launched a site on kickstarter to get backers to help support the project. Their page with video and pictures is https://www.kickstarter.com/ If we achieve this goal then that will allow Tamara and Michael money to buy fabric, thread, cover the shipping cost of the reward custom pillowcases on kickstarter along with the third party percentages related to the online store, accepting the credit cards on kickstarter and processing fees from Amazon payments. I have taken on the role of business organizer to get the business started and make sure it runs smoothly. I am working on getting the word out about their business, helping them with the startup and will also be on quality control to verify each and every pillowcase made are done perfectly!! Please feel free to see their kickstarter site to learn more about the project. We are working on our website to lauch soon which will be https://www.goodnightpillowcases.com .We can also be found on Facebook under the business name. Wish us luck!!! End
