A Niche for Knitting: Boston Center for Adult Education Will Offer Single Session Knitting Classes

BOSTON - Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- WHAT: Bostonians definitely know a thing or two about layering up to go outside. Just in time for the fast approaching fall season, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE), Boston’s award-winning adult education center, is now offering single-session knitting classes beginning September 2014. Those looking to master the art of knitting a hat or a scarf for the chillier Boston days, or simply looking for a crash course in the relaxing hobby are in luck; there will be a class offered for each of these preferences. A favorite pastime for many, students will not only master a new skill, but they’ll leave the course with the knowledge of how to create a comfortable new accessory to wear, keep around the house, or pass on as a cozy gift.  Interested knitters can register for classes online or call the Boston Center for Adult Education at 617-267-4430. See below for additional details and the full class schedule.

Class Schedule:

After the class, they’ll have the tools and confidence needed to finish a pair of fingerless gloves, perfect for those crisp fall days. This course acts as a foundation for the more advanced one-day knitting classes and is perfect for complete beginners or those needing a refresher. Students will be provided with the yarn, knitting needles, and sewing needles needed to finish the project. Class is held Saturday, September 20th, 2014, 1 session from 10:30AM-1:30PM. $51 non-members/$43 members/$20 materials

Knit a Hat

In the three-hour course, students will learn how to use a set of double pointed needles to knit in a circle, how to construct the hat from start to finish, and how to read a simple knitting pattern. Those participating should be familiar with the cast-on, knit, and purl stitches before taking this class, which can be learned in the Knitter’s Crash Course. Yarn, knitting needles, and a sewing needle will be provided. Class is held Saturday, October 4th, 2014, 1 session from 10:30AM-1:30PM. $51 non-members/$43 members/$20 materials

Knit a Scarf

In two hours, students will learn everything they need to know to start, knit, and finish a garter stitch scarf. This class is perfect for absolute beginners as well as students who want to get a refresher on how to knit properly without a long commitment. The BCAE will provide the yarn, knitting needles, and a sewing needle you need to finish your project.
