DENVER - Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Neil Peck, of counsel in the firm’s Denver office, has been appointed by Mayor Michael Hancock to serve on the City and County of Denver Career Service Board. The appointment is effective immediately.

The Career Service (CS) Board consists of five Denver citizens appointed by the Mayor for five-year staggered terms. The Board provides oversight for the Office of Human Resources. Its charge is to maintain the merit system, which is the foundation of the Career Service personnel system. It is responsible for setting policy, considering appeals and making rule changes that enhance the work environment. The Board selects the Office of Human Resources Executive Director and also appoints CS Hearings Officers.

“I am honored to have been selected by Mayor Hancock to serve Denver as a member of the Career Service Board,” said Peck. “Snell & Wilmer has a long tradition of community, industry and government service and leadership. This new role will enable me to utilize my experience to provide guidance and counsel on matters of significant importance to the City and County’s Career Service Board.”

Peck currently serves on the State of Colorado Personnel Board by appointment of Governor John Hickenlooper. The State Personnel Board has a similar mandate to the CS Board and makes rules governing the state personnel system and hears appeals by applicants and employees in the state personnel system. Peck has been appointed by four Colorado governors to state boards and commissions. This is his first Mayoral appointment.

Peck’s practice is concentrated in complex civil and criminal litigation, including appeals, involving commercial, trade regulation, environmental, natural resources, white collar criminal defense, and international issues. He represents major American and international corporate clients, including corporate officers, in complex civil and criminal business litigation matters involving issues such as accounting fraud, foreign corrupt practices, environmental, natural resources, antitrust, and false advertising. Peck received his B.A. magna cum laude from Tufts University and his LL.B from Yale Law School.
